Amazing Look! French Louis XVI Style Gilt Brass/Bronze Fireplace Fender with Lion’s Head Chenets, Urns & Torch Finials! Stamped GRANTRY FILSSimply Amazing! Circa 1890-1900Adds Pop & Class to Any Fireplace Setting & Room!Adjustable Length Approx: 25″-46″ W, Each Lion Head Chenet is approx 12″ W x 13″ H, The Chenets weigh about 8 lbs each, the center fender about 5 lbs.Just Reduced! If you decide to buy both, we have to ship them separately due to size & weight and we will discount one item $50. If you only want Fender and Lion Head Chanets, that is fine as well. This French Fireplace Fender & Chenets (Andirons) are truly lovely & highly sought after. Stamped by a high end 19th Century maker Grantry Fils, featuring great detail with bold lion faces, draped urns with torch topped finials. Some call these French Rococo, Louis the XVI Style or other, but they are terrific! We have also seen them dated from the 1840’s to 1900, but we feel 1890’s is most likely. We found a few of these priced up to $3,000 and above on Etsy, Cherish, 1stdibs and other sites, but we are pricing well under those. If you search online, you will find just simple fireplace tools like brush, shovels and tongs by Grantry Fils for above $2,000. While we could not find much other information on the factory, they must have been highly sought after throughout the 120+ years ago they were putting out elegant metalwork items. The backs of the Chenets are marked G F as well. This is all original except for a few nuts and bolts have been changed over the 100 plus years. The Chenets can be bolted to the fender with machined nuts and bolts that are included or left unattached if you prefer as they stand pretty well on there own. When the bolts are in place it is approx: 42 inches wide. But you could adjust about a bit wider to 46″ or so, or narrow them down under 28″ if you chose. There is a slide bar attachment on the back of each that can hold them in place if needed when bolted in or slightly adjusted in. There are places on the thin slide bars (that hold Chenets & the middle piece together) on the back of the Chenets for set screws if someone wanted to add some, but they are missing. You do not really need the screws, but we wanted to note it. They should be easy to find if someone wished at a hardware store for under a few dollars. As noted, this sale is only for the fender and lions head Chenets (Andirons), but the back screen w/cherubs does compliment it nicely & they were from the same estate. If you decide you want both let us know in advance and we can discount $50 off the price of one. If you just want the Fender & Chenets that is fine as well. Please look over all pictures and video and use zoom feature if needed. Items with video provided may appear a little darker than actual due to our video capacity at this time. For this reason, if an item is ever damaged, it will be the Buyer’s responsibility to file a claim with the shipping service and we can provide photos from packing to assist Buyers. The process is not difficult, but the timing of such does not allow adequate time for the item to be returned to us and then for us to proceed with a claim (chain of custody questions can arise as well on returned items due to double shipping and handling so it is just easier for Buyers). So again, as noted in listing, we do not offer returns. Sales tax is charged according to your state or country’s regulations. Of course, there is free local pick up and we can meet to assist if you are near Indianapolis or driving through. We do this often. Signature confirmation will be required if your item is above $100 so please plan accordingly. Lastly, we have discounts with FedEx & eBay on shipping which do not always show up in eBay estimates on shipping. We try to refund what we can when there is a notable difference, but we do not know until we actually process the shipping order.
