This tool WILL NOT work for vehicles with the om606 Mercedes engine and 1991 and later om603 engines — but if you need a prechamber tool for these, then I have one available here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/225324711241 ) This is a shop-made prechamber extractor / puller tool that is designed to thread into your existing 5 lb slide hammer. The seller services classic Mercedes vehicles for a living and uses this tool in shop to extract prechambers out of engines. The tool is HAND MADE and my design has been shop tested under heavy/hard and repeated use over multiple years. You supply your own slide hammer. You can rent a slide hammer for free at most auto parts retailers. My tool is designed to be used as an attachment for commonly available 5 lb slide hammer available for rent at many auto parts stores and will also fit the slide hammer made by Harbor Freight. INSTRUCTIONS: With the prechamber collar nut removed (you will need a different tool to remove the collar nut), clean the prechamber threads of the prechamber inside the box with a tube style wire brush so the threads are as clean from debris as possible. If you do not want debris to go down inside the prechamber, then you can plug the center hole with a rubber cap or a small piece of cork. You will need a small wire tube brush, some brake clean and compressed air to best clean the threads. Do not skip this step or skimp on the cleaning! Proper preparation of the threads is the MOST important step of this entire process! Then, lightly apply some oil on the fine threads of the tool, and—BY HAND—manually thread the tool into the prechamber as many threads as possible. Do not use an impact or power tool for this step. The tool should thread in smoothly if the threads of your prechamber have been cleaned out (if not your prechamber threads may be damaged and in this case the tool will not work on damaged prechamber threads. Slight resistance during the threading process is normal but do not force the tool to engage the threads of the prechamber if you feel great resistance/difficulty or you risk cross threading the tool and/or your prechamber. Once the tool is securely threaded into your prechamber, you can then thread your 5 lb slide hammer into the other end of the tool. Insert the slide hammer as many threads as possible for best strength. Once the tool is attached, the prechamber will require a lot of hard whacks with the slide hammer. It is in there very tight and takes a good deal of force to come out. Be patient. You need this heavy slide hammer to do the job. Competitor tools show a much smaller slide hammer which is INSUFFICIENT in power to do the job. NOTE: To extend the tool life, keep all the threads clean and lightly lubricated with oil when not in use. Store the tool inside a plastic zip-lock type of bag to keep the tool free of dirt and debris. Inspect the threads of the tool prior to use, and never force the threads. If the threads on your tool become damaged, you can mail the tool back to the seller for service.
