The original, quality and reliable, antique (more than 80 years old), American watch movement GRUEN, fully fitted with stones (15 ruby jewels), originally from pocket watch, was restored by a watchmaker master and set into a new, stainless steel wristwatch case. The case has mineral glass and is transparent on both sides, so the owner can look at the precise watch movement. The dial was made new from the brass in high quality and retro style. Beautiful, gilded hands are original – antique. This unique watch was made to order in the year of 2024 only in one piece. It can be considered as new and not worn. Gruen, Sons & Company, The Gruen National Watch Case Company of Cincinnati and The Gruen Watch Manufacturing Company of Biel, Switzerland to form the Gruen Watch Company under the leadership of Frederick Gruen. A new Gruen Timehill factory was built in Cincinatti, USA, which was inspired by the German half-timbered houses, the home of Dietrich Gruen. In 1924, the Gruen Watch Company produced an anniversary pocket watch in a limited edition of 600 pieces. In order to take advantage of the European distribution network of Alpina Union Horlogère, the American company Gruen proposed a merger with this company. Alpina Gruen Gilde SA was founded in 1929. In the 1930s, Henry Thiébaud moved from the Biel Freco watchmaker to the Gruen Watch Company. There he began a rapid career from technician to managing director and with great commitment led the company through the crisis of the late 1930s and the Second World War. In 1935, the Gruen Curvex, arguably Gruen’s most famous watch, hit the market. This curved watch was one of the greatest examples of watch design of the 1930s and 1940s. Company founder Frederick Gruen retired from the company in 1940 and died in 1945. His younger brother Georg died in 1952. In 1953 the Gruen family sold their shares in the company. Although the company had the highest sales in its history in 1953, it ran into increasing difficulties due to mismanagement by new shareholders and improper diversification under the Gruen Industries name. Strong magnetic fields may affect the accuracy of your watch since some vintage watches were made with iron based components in the movement.- Most Cases and Covers are fine components and will not handle abuse well.
