eBay ABOUT US | FEEDBACK | CONTACT Antiques & Uncommon Treasure Antique Victorian Black Forest Style Carved Oak Salvage Panel PAIR, Hunt Birds Fabulous antique Black Forest style 21 1/4″ x 16 78″ plaque PAIR with hunt themed grouse or bird figures, hung as if fresh from the hunt, furniture, cabinet or architectural salvage pieces in hand carved European oak and with wonderful visual & decorative appeal! Architectural salvage, either the built-in hand carved paneling of a beautiful old estate or chateau, or doors from a cabinet or piece of superbly crafted old furniture. Bring a custom and opulent detail to your own cabinetry. These panels are, as noted, entirely hand carved in what appears to be solid old growth European oak. This type dates to around the mid-late 1800s, and we’ve left the finish just as they arrived after their trip here from France. A large bird or long beaked grouse figure at the center of each with branches & foliage and depicted as if hung by ribbons just after the hunt. Shown front and back, measurements noted upon, and condition visible in photos. These make perfect as wall hanging decorative pieces just as they are, set in an opulent gilded picture frame or incorporate them into your own custom bar, furniture or cabinet creation. Some choose to mount these with an outer frame directly onto kitchen or bath cabinetry to enhance and elevate. To have such incredible carvings done to order now would be prohibitive in cost. The old ones are always just finer, aren’t they. Get creative! Also, this is a slightly smaller pair of a matching set of three. We’ve decided to split them up and offer this pair and the other matching single separately in case you weren’t actually needing or looking for all three. Possibly a tiny edge chip or two but, as you can see, there is no loss or damage to the carved decoration. The panels themselves are in roughly 1/4” thick solid oak with the carved decoration adding more depth to that. Stained and you can see the outer edges are raw where they would have fit into the furniture or cabinet frame. See pictures for all measurements.
