Albany NY 1910s CONSOLIDATED CAR HEATING CO. Railroad Train, Trolley SIGNAL SYSTEM Box “CONSOLIDATED CARD HEATING CO. // ALBANY, N.Y. – U.S.A. // CAR SIGNAL SYSTEM // PATENTED // DEC. 17, 1907 – DEC. 22, 1908 – JULY 5, 1910 // OTHER PATENTS PENDING” Steel/iron hinged box with spot-welded oval nameplate (partially loose as shown). Size about 9-1/2 x 4-1/4 x 3-3/4 inches. Seems to have originally been painted black, but is now covered in rust, but the metal is still sound and restorable, the rust being superficial. Looks to have been mounted inside the train or trolley car, or perhaps underneath the car, from the back side. I have no idea what mechanism was stored or installed inside this box. I am guessing it dates from the 1910s, based on the patent dates on top and general appearance, but could it be 1920s? Maybe.
